  35. TextPad is designed to provide the power and functionality to satisfy the
  36. most demanding text editing requirements.  It is Windows hosted, and comes
  37. in 16 and 32-bit editions.  Huge files can be edited by either - just
  38. choose the edition that works best with your PC.  The 32-bit edition can
  39. edit files up to the limits of virtual memory (see Specifications in the
  40. on-line help for full details), and it will work with Windows 95, NT and
  41. Windows 3.1 with Win32s extensions.

  44. and then read the introduction in the on-line help file.

  47. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  55. INSTALLATION:
  56. -------------
  57.     TextPad has a setup program which configures it for the version of
  58.     Windows that you are using.  Some things will not work (including
  59.     the uninstall program) if you don't install it correctly.  You have
  60.     been warned!
  61.  
  62.     To install TextPad from a ZIP file:
  63.  
  64.         1) Unzip into an empty temporary folder, with PKUNZIP 2.04g.
  65.         2) Run SETUP.EXE, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  66.         3) Be sure to install TextPad into a different folder from the
  67.            one used in step 1 above.
  68.         4) Delete the files unzipped in step 1 above.

  70.     Dictionaries for the spelling checker are in separate zip files. To
  71.     install one, just unzip it into the installation folder, then select
  72.     it on the Spelling tab of the Preferences dialog box.

  74.     IMPORTANT NOTES:
  75.  
  76.     + If you intend to use the 32-bit edition with Windows 3.1 or 3.11,
  77.       you must install Win32s 1.3c first.  This also installs the 16-bit
  78.       OLE2 files.  If you have Internet access, you can obtain it from:

  82.       CompuServe users can download Win32s from forum MSWIN as PW1118.EXE.

  84.     + If you want to associate file extensions with TextPad, do it using
  85.       the Associations tabs on the Preferences dialog box.  This ensures
  86.       that TextPad is started with the correct parameters to handle files
  87.       with spaces in their names, and it enables the uninstall program to
  88.       clean up afterwards.

  90.     + If you have previously used an unregistered copy of TextPad, its
  91.       OLE2 drag and drop capability may have been disabled.  To enable
  92.       it, start TextPad (without opening any files) and choose the
  93.       Preferences command from the Configure menu.  Make sure that the
  94.       "Enable OLE drag and drop" box is checked on the General tab.

  100. RESTRICTED FEATURES:

  102.     The following restrictions apply to unregistered copies of TextPad:

  104.     1) Only 2 keystroke macros can be added to the Macros menu, instead
  105.        of up to 16.
  106.  
  107.     2) Searching of subfolders is disabled on the Find in Files dialog box.

  109. REGISTRATION:
  110. -------------
  111.     If you make use of TextPad you must register it.  Registered users
  112.     will be licensed to use both the 16 and 32-bit editions.  There are
  113.     separate prices for downloading the software yourself, and receiving
  114.     a copy on diskettes.
